How it works

A. To begin you need...

Its easy, quick & hassle free to open a netmoney Connect account  as no credit checks are required. A UK based person (the primary) applies and can add up to 3 people (companions) on the account. To apply, you must:

  1. Be a UK resident – with a UK address where all cards are delivered
  2. Be 18 years old or over, and 13 years or over for the companion
  3. Have access to a UK debit card (to pay for cards). Click here for our fees

B. Card delivery

Both primary & companion(s) cards on the account are delivered to the primary’s UK address within 10 working days. The primary then arranges for companion’s card to be sent abroad.

C. Activate your card

When you receive your card, you must activate it before it can be used. You can do so by: 

  • i) Online – click here and follow simple steps
  • ii) Customer services (during office hours) – call +44(0) 1223 790697 & select option 2
  • iii) Automated phone service (24/7) – call +44(0) 1223 790697, select option 1 & follow instructions
  • iv) SMSto activate your card by SMS, you must:
  1. have your “access code” For illustration, assume this is “123456
  2. have the last 4 digits of your long card number. For illustration, assume its “7890
  3. send an SMS to “57887 (from the UK)” or “+447797800035 (from abroad & UK)
  4. send an SMS from the number that we hold on your netmoney account.

For example, send an SMS like :“prepaid activate 123456 7890”(with a space in between words). You will receive an SMS confirmation message.

Note: In order to view your companion’s account details and call money back from them, you must link their card card to your account. Simply login your account & click “Link companion card“. This is only done once and only if you added companions at the same time you opened your account.

D. Get your PIN

Activate IconYou will need a PIN for your card before you can use it. You can get your PIN by:

  • i) – Calling customer service on +44(0) 1223 790697 & selecting option 2. Your PIN will be sent to you by SMS, to the mobile number we hold.
  • ii) – Ringing an automated phone (24/7), +44(0) 1223 790697, select option 1 & then option 3. Your PIN will be sent to you by SMS to the mobile number we hold
  • iii) – SMS. To get your PIN by SMS, you should have:
  1. Your “access code” (found on the letter that came with your card or contact us for replacement). For illustrations, assume this is “123456”
  2. The last 4 digits of your long card number. For illustration, assume its “7890”
  3. Send an SMS to “57887 (from the UK)” or “+447797800035 (from abroad & UK). SMS must be sent from the number we hold on your netmoney Connect account.

For example, send an SMS like :“prepaid pin 123456 7890”(with a space in between words). You will receive your PIN by SMS.

E. Your account comes with....

A. By debit card

You can credit your account with a UK debit card (no credit cards or non UK cards), simply log into your account and:

  1. click on “Load Card Funds
  2. Type in the amount, e.g. 50 to credit £50 (minimum is £10)
  3. click “Load” & follow simple steps (enter your debit card details)
  4. If successful, you will see a confirmation message. Refresh your account to see your new account balance.

B. By bank transfer

netmoney5You can credit your netmoney Connect account by bank transfer,from a UK bank account ony. Simply go to your UK bank branch or use their telephone/telephone banking to send money to your netmoney account. Details you need to complete the transfer are:

Account Name: Your name as on the card
Account Number: as on the front of your card
Sort Code: as on the front of your card
Reference: “this must be entered” – the 16 digit long card number as at the front of your card, beginning “476247”
C. By PayPoint

netmoney6You can credit your account using cash from over 24,000 PayPoint outlets in the UK & Ireland. Simply handover cash & your netmoney Connect card to a PayPoint operative. They will swipe it and give you a receipt for the transaction. Money will be on your account with in minutes but can be accessed after “2 hours”.

Note: Please keep your PayPoint receipt as proof until you can see money on your account

A. Online

Top Up IconSimply log into your account, go to the “card2card transfer” section and:

  1. Enter the amount you want to send
  2. Select “Receiver” from drop down (the companion you are sending to) or
  3. Select “other” & enter the long card number of the netmoney customer you are sending money to
  4. Then click “transfer” & money will be credited on the recepient’s card instantly

B. By automated telephone service

Send IconYou can send money to your companions & other netmoney cardholders using our automated phone service. To be do this, you should:

  1. have the long card number of the recipient at hand and;
  2. call +44(0) 1223 790697 and,
  3. select option 1, then option 4 and follow simple instructions

Money will be instantly credited on the recipient’s account.

C. By SMS

You can send money to your companion or another netmoney Connect cardholders by SMS. To do this, you must :

  1. have your “access code” (found on the letter that came with your card or contact us for replacement). For illistration, assume this is “123456”
  2. have the “phone number” of the person you are sending money to, as we hold it on their netmoney account. For illustration, assume its “+447912345678”
  3. Send an SMS to “57887 (from the UK)” or “+447797800035 (from abroad & UK).
  4. send an SMS from the number we hold on your netmoney Connect account.

To send £100, send an SMS like :“prepaid xfer 100 to 079312345678 123456”(with a space in between words)

  6. Reports lost, stolen and damaged cards
  7. Add a companion on your account (primary only)
  8. view your account balance & detailed transaction history, including those of your companions
B. Via customer service

  1. activate your card
  2. get your PIN (sent to you by SMS)
  3. know your account balance & transaction history

E. By SMS

You can use our SMS service to do certain things yourself. For the service to work, you must:

  1. Send the SMS from the number that we hold on your primary or companion account
  2. Send the SMS to “57887 (from the UK) or “+447797 800035″ (from the UK & abroad)
  3. have your “access code” (found on the letter that comes with your card, contact customer services if you cant find it). For illustration, assume this is “123456
  4. have the last 4 digits of your long card number. For illustration, assume its “7890
